The perforated basket is attached to the lid. Close it and the aligner goes down, submerged in water or in whatever cleaner you use. Open it and the basket rises on its own, lifting the aligner out of the liquid. That way saliva never gets the chance to dry on it, which over time is what turns it cloudy and leaves it smelling.

Usage warnings
Intended use: storing and soaking aligners, retainers, night guards and removable dentures. Not a medical device and does not disinfect. Contains small parts (aligner remover and brush): keep out of reach of children under three years old. Do not use boiling water. Hand wash with lukewarm water and mild soap; not dishwasher or microwave safe. Change the water every day. Made in China.
The problem isn't the aligner. It's where you put it.
The napkin
It's the most common habit and the one that loses the most aligners: you wrap it up to eat, leave it on the tray and it ends up in the bin with everything else. Replacing it costs money and, above all, days of treatment.
Saliva that dries on
An aligner comes out of the mouth coated in saliva. In a dry case, that film dries on and builds up day after day: that's what turns it cloudy and leaves it smelling. Kept soaking, it never gets the chance to dry.
Fingers in the glass
The usual alternative is a glass of water. It works at home, not in a restaurant bathroom, and getting it out means putting your fingers in the water. The Lumera Capsule basket lifts it out for you when you open the lid.

A basket that rises and lowers
The perforated basket is attached to the lid. Close it and the aligner sits underwater; open it and it comes out drained. It is the only move you need to learn.
Mirror in the lid
So you can put it back in at any restroom, without hunting for a mirror or doing it blind.
Remover and brush
The remover helps release the aligner without prying at it with your nails, and the small brush reaches the gaps. Both are stored in the lid.
Clip and silicone seal
The lid closes with a clip and a silicone seal so you can carry the case with you. If you will be out for many hours, you can empty the water and carry it dry.
